Please note that SLA cannot assist client with the following types of cases: matters requiring appearances in the Court of Queen's Bench; negotiations or settlements of tort actions (personal injury); drafting a will or separation agreement; drafting commercial contracts; matters involving the sale of interest in land.

SLA is able to offer assistance in the following family matters (but are not limited to):

  • Private Guardianship
  • Parenting
  • Child Support
  • Contact
  • Permanent Guardianship Order

Please Note: SLA does not take on family files that have involvement with Child Welfare. As well SLA does not deal with division of property matters pertaining to a divorce or seperation agreement.

Student caseworkers act as agent for individuals in the Provincial Civil & Family Courts of Alberta. Once SLA opens a file, the student caseworkers act as an agents for individuals pertaining to all correspondence and court appearances.SLA also act as agents before various administrative and academic tribunals.

All activity is conducted under the direction of one of our advising lawyers.
